LA MELODIA
MC Melodee and DJ/Producer I.N.T. , together also known as hiphop duo “La Melodia” bring you witty wordplay combined with production that is rich in detail. Together the duo represent the city of Amsterdam, where they settled by way of Eindhoven about 10 years ago.
Stepping onto the scene in 2004 with their first official collaboration on 12” vinyl of the single Dough/For You; the duo kicked off what was, and still remains a journey of unity and growth. Establishing their distributions to independently release their music, they were rapidly picked up by Rush Hour Records to distribute their work internationally that same year. Also La Melodia signs with bookingsagent Missin’ Link Artist, which lead to the pair being added to theStones Throw 2005 Massacre Tour. The tour included noted recording artists Percee P, Wildchild and Oh No just to name a few, with shows in cities including Paris, London, Berlin, Prague and Manchester.
This great experience became the official kick off of their international career. In 2006 a record deal with Japanese label Handcuts Records/Universal Japan is sealed, which leads to the release of their debut record “Vibing High”.In 2007 “Vibing High” is picked up by European label Pias, who makes the record internationally available and accessible through I tunes and releases it in the Benelux. Dutch music channel MTV/TMF facilitates the video of the albumsingle “Time” through their project Kweekvijver, (a project which supports unique, talented up and coming Artists on the scene) and generates La Melodia’s exposure in Holland.
With their fanbase growing, La Melodia continues to tour around the world performing on festivals including North Sea Jazz, Sonar, Popkomm, Soul Nation and Capetown jazz. A performance at New York’s “Open” at Santo’s, (2009) hosted by Rapper/Producer/DJ Q-tip and DJ/Producer Rich Medina also leads to performances on NY’sCMJ (Music Marathon) and Music, Film & Interactive Conference South by SouthWest (2010) in Austin, Texas. In 2010 it even results in a new 7 inch vinyl release on record label ‘Record Breaking Music’ called “Chemistry b/w Working on it“.
That same year La Melodia is also selected by the European Music Office to be a part of the ambitious three-year European project Diversidad (www.diversidad-experience.com). Next to that, La Melodia is currently back to kick up more dust with their 2010 September release of the mini album “Electronic Love” on La Melodia Records. In this ever changing music business, the duo decided not to release any full length albums, instead they planned to frequently release “mini” albums to establish frequent exposure. Electronic Love therefore presents you with 7 tracks on vinyl (+ a bonus track). Introducing the groups’ definition of sexy hiphop, the record presents itself with a continuance of synthetic electronic feel and lyrics that cover different topics of love. Maintaining to pursue innovative and creative ways to craft and release their music, La Melodia continues to cement their spot in hiphop, both national and internationally.
